I am Melinda Walker and it is my passion to create a community of Tribal Belly Dance here in our islands. I was born and raised on Oahu, and began studying Gypsy Caravan Tribal Belly Dance in 1993 in Portland with Paulette Rees-Denis, its founder. My studies progressed when I was invited to perform with the troupe “Sister Caravan” directed by Ms. Rees-Denis, in Portland and beyond. After moving to the San Francisco Bay area, I studied with Jill Parker for about 2 years. After a pause in my dance timeline I moved back to the island where I was born and raised and made a commitment to become certified to teach the form of dance that I know and love the most: Gypsy Caravan Tribal Belly Dance ®.
